What is GPT Image 2?
GPT Image 2 is OpenAI's image model for creating and editing pictures from plain-language prompts. It is known for following detailed instructions, drawing readable text on posters, labels and signs, and editing a photo you upload as a reference. On this page you can use GPT Image 2 online as an image generator and photo editor, with no OpenAI account or API key: write what you want, add a reference image if you have one, choose an aspect ratio and generate. Each image is 1K resolution, costs 30 credits and is saved in My Images. We are an independent service that reaches the model through its API and are not affiliated with OpenAI.
What GPT Image 2 does well
Follows detailed prompts
Describe several subjects, where they stand, what they wear, the props and the light in one prompt. GPT Image 2 keeps track of those details, so you usually need fewer tries.
Readable text in the picture
Put a headline, a product name or a shop sign in quotes, and the model draws it as lettering in the image. Short text works best, so check the spelling before you publish.
Edits from a reference image
Upload a photo and say what should change, such as the background, an outfit or the season. Used as a GPT Image 2 photo editor, the model is instructed to keep the rest.
People stay themselves
With a reference photo of a person, the tool keeps who they are and won't swap in someone else's face, so you can change the setting, clothes or light around them.
What you can make with GPT Image 2
Posters and flyers
Lay out an event poster, a sale flyer or a menu board with the title written into the image, then add the small print in a design tool.
Product and packaging mockups
Show a bottle, box or label with your product name on it, as a studio shot or in a lifestyle scene, before you order samples or print anything.
Edits to an existing photo
Upload a photo and change the background, the weather, a color or a single object, while the main subject stays where it is in the frame.
Social media and blog images
Make covers, thumbnails and article images in the shape you need, from tall 9:16 stories to square posts and wide 16:9 banners for a blog header.
Tips for better GPT Image 2 results
Put any words that should appear in the image in quotes, such as the title “SUMMER SALE”, and say where they go, for example “across the top in bold white letters”.
Spell out the details you care about: camera angle, materials, colors and how many objects. A precise sentence works better than vague words like “beautiful” or “premium”.
When you upload a reference image, say what should stay as well as what should change, for example “keep the person and the pose, change the background to a library”.
Ask for one or two changes per edit. If a result is close, download it, upload it again as the reference and describe only the next change.

GPT Image 2 FAQ
- What is GPT Image 2?
- GPT Image 2 is an image model from OpenAI. It creates images from text prompts and edits images you upload. It is known for following detailed instructions and for drawing readable text such as titles, labels and signs.
- Is this the official GPT Image 2 website?
- No. We are an independent service that runs OpenAI's GPT Image 2 model through its API, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI. You don't need an OpenAI account; you pay with credits on this site.
- GPT Image 2 vs GPT Image 2.5: which should I use?
- GPT Image 2.5 is the newer model, and this site runs its Sunburst version, which is tuned for quality. It is strong at detailed edits, correctly spelled poster text and consistent characters. Both cost 30 credits per image at 1K, so you can run one prompt on each and compare.
- How many credits does GPT Image 2 cost?
- Each image costs 30 credits, whether you start from text alone or from a reference photo. The cost is shown on the Generate button, and if a generation fails, the credits are refunded automatically.
- What resolution does GPT Image 2 output?
- Images come out at standard 1K resolution, about 1024 pixels on the long side, in 1:1, 3:4, 4:3, 9:16, 16:9 or auto. That suits social posts, web pages and slides; it is not meant for large prints.
- Can I upload a reference image?
- Yes, it is optional. Upload a photo to edit it, or use it as a reference for a new image, then describe what you want. With a photo of a person, the tool keeps who they are and won't swap in another face. Prompts and images are moderated.
- Can I use GPT Image 2 images commercially?
- Yes. You can use the images you create here in commercial work such as ads, product pages and social posts, subject to our terms of service. Each image is saved in My Images. Only upload photos you have the rights to use.
- Can GPT Image 2 put text in an image?
- Yes, it is one of its strengths. Write the exact words in quotes and say where they go. Short titles, labels and signs usually come out readable, but long paragraphs and very small lettering can still contain mistakes, so proofread before you publish.
